Valentine’s Day is less than a month away, and I’m already thinking about what to wear.
I am a huge fan of pairing blush, blue and gray as often as possible (check out my most recent inspiration!). But, blush, metallic, white and black are a close second color combo for me.
When you love these colors as much as I do, Valentine’s Day is kind of the mother ship fashion day! But, beyond fashion, Valentine’s Day is for loving on those who are important to you and showing some love for yourself.
Whether you have a date night, a brunch with your partner, or a fun night out with the girls, I have some outfit ideas that are sure to inspire your Valentine’s Day look.
To kick things off before we look at the yummy stuff: For your Valentine’s Day consideration, I present to you the Alice + Olivia Delray Sequin Embellished Camisole.
This camisole, like all camisoles, is very versatile. The metallic hue can be used to add edge, glamour or romance to any number of outfits. Here’s this little cami at work with three very different Valentine’s Day looks.
Look #1: Blush, Bashful Valentine’s Day Date Night
I’ll admit it, I’m willing to be a little chilly on a special date night. This outfit shows off legs and arms. Of course, I live in Atlanta, and (despite the current snow on the ground), we can usually get away with showing off our legs and arms. And, adding a beautiful white coat – especially one is a super soft fabric – would provide some warmth and added style.
For accessories, I’d keep it really simple. I love these J. crew flower earrings. They are romantic, but also simple enough to double for work. A simple gold bangle bracket (or a stack of two or three) would be the only other jewelry needed for this look.
The shoes and handbag are your splurges for this look. Every woman should have a nude (or gold) strappy heel in her closet. I would invest in one that will serve you well for years to come as this look is never going to go out of style.
Finally – you either are a handbag gal, or you aren’t. I, myself, will absolutely splurge on at least one bag each year. This YSL bag is perfect for ultra-feminine outfits, but also pairs beautifully with a pair of skinny jeans and a chunky knit sweater.

Look #2: Valentine’s Day Brunch
Her’s a little secret about my husband and me: we aren’t really all that big into fancy dinners out on special occasions. Nine times out of 10, you’ll find us having brunch to celebrate Valentine’s Day or any other special occasion.
There is no rule that says you have to go out to dinner to get your romance on. And, there is no better way to show off your style than proving that shorts are a year-round fashion staple.
I’ve loved shorts paired with tights for years. I can still remember my first tweed short jumpsuit. I paired it with chocolate brown tights and penny loafers … because they were having a comeback moment in the 90s.
Honestly, if I still fit in it, I’d still wear that outfit today, but I’d probably pair it with booties now.
For this Valentine’s Day brunch outfit, we are using the camisole for glitz and texture and to to offset the structure of these belted paper bag waist shorts. Here’s the great part – especially for me, a girl who even at my thinnest is considered plus size) – these shorts go up to a size 20!
Of course, I’ve thrown in some opaque tights from Gap (another staple we all need in our closets) and a pair of black mid-calf boots to add some modern edge. Again, we are balancing structure with glitz.
Accessories include gold drop earrings and a simple gold rope bracelet. You really don’t need too much fussiness with a sequin top.
And, finally, the handbag splurge. This Dolce and Gabbana black Dolce Box Bag mixes classic ‘quilted’ patterns with modern metals in the latch. I also love a bag with a top handle.

Look #3: Soft and Comfy Valentine’s Day Night Out
If you think you can’t be sexy and comfy at the same time, I’m here to tell you that you are so wrong!
I am all about being comfortable. To me, nothing is better than a soft sweater and a pair of well-broken-in jeans.
This look is super feminine, but super comfy at the same time. The light layers are perfect for those of us who live in slightly warmer climates, and strappy heels are in style year-round and just about anywhere.
To me, though, the standout for this look are the blush pink feather earrings. If you are looking to stay on trend for 2018, you want to look toward statement earrings. From tassels to feathers to flowers to bold geometric shapes and oversized ear cuffs – all on trend for 2018. In other words, your legs might be doing the walking, but your ears will be doing all the talking.
Now, to the purse, I’ve already told you that I’m willing to invest in a handbag. This one, from Luis Vuitton hits on one of my tried-and-true fashion rules – nude is always in and goes with anything. And, as much as a love a big bag (LV Neverfull, anyone?), this simple little bag packs a big punch all on its own.
